The green energy movement has been growing in the southwest and Ice Now has been proud to be a part of some large solar projects in Arizona. Over the course of three years, Ice Now provided bagged ice and cold storage units for two larger solar projects in Gila Bend, AZ and Arlington, AZ. The crews needed ice daily to stay hydrated during days that consistently stayed above 110 degrees.
The Gila Bend project, at its peak, had 2,000+ daily works from all over the world, completing the installation of parabolic mirrors to generate 300MW of solar energy. The Arlington solar project had 500 workers over 2 years. The photovoltaic solar project will produce 250MW of energy for California.
Similar to other Unique Ice Uses for bakeries and concrete production, Ice Now has been contracted to provide ice for algae production. The hot desert sun is ideal for algae production, but sometimes it does require the temperature to be regulated. We provide ice blocks to be placed into large tanks of algae in the testing and production phase.
Ice Now is proud to be a part of a green energy future, albeit a small part, but we try to do what we can.
